One Sketch, Two Surprises
An Influencer And An Awkward Text!
10th May 2025An Influencer And An Awkward Text!
10th May 2025Hey Creative Souls, Welcome Back to My Blog!
I’m back with a new blog — because hey, I’m not letting the streak break this time! Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of a pencil sketch I completed on January 1, 2021 — a drawing that turned out to be surprisingly special in my journey as an artist.
This piece is a pencil sketch of an influencer named Vikrant Negi, also known as @sultanofficial on Instagram. Here’s the funny part: when I first started sketching him, I didn’t know a single thing about the guy! 😅
A friend of mine just suggested his name, and I thought, “Why not?” I opened up Instagram, typed in his handle, and started scrolling.
What did I find? Shoes. Lots of shoes.
Instantly caught my eye.
Then I spotted this one perfect image of him in a stylish shoe pose, and my artist brain whispered, “This is it.”
Like always, I began with my favorite part — drawing clothes!
His Jacket, his shoes, and that overall vibe had me excited from the get-go.
I used Brustro Drawing Paper and my trusted graphite pencils — nope, not the Apsara ones (still have a full box of those lying around 😅). The sketch took me 2–3 days to complete. It flowed really smoothly, and I enjoyed every second of it.
Later, I found out he’s into music too! So, while clicking the final photo of the artwork, I added my earphones as props to match the theme.
Here’s the best part…
After I posted the sketch on Instagram, Sultan Official saw it — AND SHARED IT ON HIS STORY!
I can’t even explain how happy that made me. That one small moment gave me such a huge confidence boost. It reminded me why I love doing what I do.
Not just for recognition — but for the little, unexpected surprises that keep the fire alive.
Okay, let me get real for a second — and share something a bit embarrassing. 😶
Recently, I was going through my old chat with the artist I had sketched. And guess what I found?
A super weird message I had sent back then where I randomly wrote "I’m not a bro, I’m a girl." 😭
Like… WHY did I even say that?! I mean, I know we all casually call people “bro,” but that random clarification still haunts me. Ugh. So clumsy. So awkward.
But hey, that’s who I am — clumsy, weird, and sometimes stupid — but 100% me.
And I’m still laughing (and cringing) about it.
This drawing was made during the post-COVID phase, when the world was slowly getting back on its feet. I didn’t expect it to blow up. But it gave me the push I needed — the reminder that someone, somewhere is watching your art.
So if you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or uninspired — just draw anyway.
You never know what’s waiting on the other side.
Until Next Time…
Keep creating.
Keep experimenting.
Keep surprising yourself.
Peace out, creative souls. ✌️
