The Road To Improvement
Struggles, Growth, And Lessons

15th February 2025Hi creative souls, once again you are back reading the blog—I’m so glad to see you guys! As you saw in my last post, my first portrait gave me the motivation to keep going. But that wasn’t the end of the journey—after that, I had my fair share of ups and downs. When I tried making more sketches, I often couldn’t achieve the results I wanted. I struggled with drawing faces, and sometimes, my sketches turned out horrible.
There was one time when I was making a portrait of my friend, and things went horribly wrong. When I started drawing the eyes, I just couldn’t get them right. I erased multiple times, which ended up tearing the paper. Frustrated, I decided to capture just the lower part of the drawing, and surprisingly, it came out nice. So, as a learning moment, I clicked a picture and posted it on Instagram.
But I didn’t stop there. I kept trying to make more and more portraits. I even attempted drawing influencers, but I wasn’t successful. Not only that, but I could see the mistakes, but I didn’t know how to fix them. There were times when I felt like giving up, leaving my drawings incomplete because I knew they wouldn’t look good.
Thankfully, my friends never let me quit. They always reminded me, "Aadha adhura kaam beech me nahi chhodte," meaning, "Don't leave your work unfinished." Thanks to them, none of my drawings were ever left incomplete. If you guys are reading this, I just want to say—I’m so lucky to have you in my life!
Today, I’m sharing some of my old sketches that I never posted before. I want you to see that the initial stages of any skill are tough. It’s easy to step back, but taking a step forward is the hardest part. One decision can change your life. I still struggle with decision-making, but now I know that when you have the right people around you, nothing can truly go wrong.
At the moment, I’m caught up in the digital world and don’t get much time to draw. But whenever I do, I make sure to enjoy the process. Hopefully, I’ll take out some time soon to work on more traditional sketches.
Lastly, I just want to say—keep practicing and keep learning. The moment you start thinking you know everything, that’s when you stop growing. There’s always room for improvement, and I still have so much to learn in life.
All the best, creative souls! Keep spreading your creativity into the world!
